PREFACE:
The following information supplied within this page are what this organization believes as the classic definition of hauntings, tailored to fit our research, findings, and conclusions.

WHAT ARE GHOSTS?
Ghosts are phenomenon that have existed since the dawn of culture and society. Different cultures define them in their own unique fashion. However, the worldwide commonality of ghosts and hauntings is that they are still/moving images of life that had once existed in the past. Some may appear in an arbitrary fashion (residual hauntings), and some appear due to natural forces within our environments that we, as a people, have yet to fully comprehend. There are even some that can interact with us (traditional hauntings) as if they are trying to provide some form of communication.

All types of life possess a unique composition of energy that reside within the body. Some cultures have dubbed this as "chi". Others believe this energy to be the soul, popularly accepted within the realm of many religions.

A great number of paranormal experiences typically involve activities and behaviors that bear a striking likeness to behaviors and activities of living beings. Because of such, many who have experienced paranormal phenomena widely theorize that ghosts are the vestigal remnants of the departed. In essence, ghosts can be thought of as the released energies, souls, or chi of the body once it expires.

For the sake of science, the organization chooses not to involve religion as the main basis or a crutch for understanding what ghosts are. For starters, there are several religions out there, and we cannot cater to sides of one belief over another. Rather, it can acknowledge this as supplemental information in the general understanding of ghosts.

In conclusion, the organization cannot say that there is a definitive answer as to what ghosts are. However, the organization can keep updating the general understanding and awareness of this phenomena by way of research. And perhaps one day, we can discover and realize the missing link as to why ghosts exist.
