REPORTED PARANORMAL ACTIVITY
There have been several stories of concern from the staff that the school is haunted. Geist Research was
contacted to investigate the area in hopes to prove or disprove the reported hauntings. It seems that most
of the reported hauntings in the school are correlated to a
Type 1 haunting. The custodians have been the
persons to have reported the most paranormal events. We assume this is because they are the ones that stay
late into the night when the school is empty.
Most of the information reported by the staff has been audible in nature. The custodians have reported
hearing rustling keys and whistling in the hallways when the school was empty. In one incident, one of
the custodians heard a boy’s voice in one of the bathrooms. This same person has expressed that she feels
very strange when inside the same bathroom.
In Room J, there have been reports of people hearing a young girl crying. At one time, a custodian heard
the crying from the hallway and thought someone had left the radio on inside. When she entered the room,
she discovered that the radio was unplugged.
Recently, a new custodian cleaning the hallway floor heard children laughing just outside Room K at
approximately 8:00pm. After his task was done, he then asked another custodian if there were children still
in the room and in the school. He was told that everyone left hours ago and that there should not be any
children in the school at this time. The new custodian walked back to Room K and found that the lights were
off and no one was inside. We were informed that this custodian rushed out of the school that night and has
not been back since.
Unusual electronic malfunctioning has also been reported to occur in the school. Both Rooms O and R have
had the radio and lights mysteriously turn on by themselves.
THE INVESTIGATION
With so much audio related stories about the school, one of our main goals were to test and study ways that
sound traveled throughout the school. After setting up our equipment, we tested the levels at which sound
traveled throughout the building. We discovered that the main hallway that connects all of the rooms in the
school produced considerable high amount of echo. Our readings indicated that it was possible to hear a
conversation and a door slam from one end of the school to another. Loud noises inside the rooms also produce
a small amount of sound to leak into the hallways.
Approximately 8:13pm, three Geist Research investigators distinctively heard a scream of a child while outside
of the bathroom where a boy’s voice has also been heard. Although we all admit that the scream may also have
been a door opening or closing.
During the investigation we noticed that two teachers went inside their classrooms and left a few minutes
later. We discovered that the teachers did have their own keys to the school and are able to enter the school
at any time. The only time where they were not allowed to enter was after 10:30pm when the school security
system was scheduled to turn on every night. After 10:30pm, the custodians must also leave the premises as
to not set off the security alarm.
Video surveillance revealed only a few paranormal phenomenon and all them occurred in Room J. Five separate
orbs were spotted hovering in the room including one that flew behind one of the investigator’s head. No other
equipment such as audio recorders, EMF detectors, and temperature readers detected any unusual incidents.
OUR CONCLUSION
Overall we believe that the investigation was a success, however at the moment we can not find any substantial
evidence to support the theory that the school is haunted. Hearing voices was what people typically
experienced in the school. So we investigated the area on how simple sound traveled in the school. Our test
results showed that sound could easily travel from one end of the school to another. Doors opening and
closing also sounded like screaming at the opposite end of the school.
So who opened these doors in the first place? Turns out that during our investigation two teachers came in
and out of their classrooms. Without us physically seeing them, we might have thought that something
paranormal just occurred. The scream that the three investigators heard approximately 8:13pm, could have
been a teacher closing a door.
Video surveillance did reveal orbs in Room J. We analyzed the video and determined that the orbs were not
bugs or dust. One of the factors that determined whether they were authentic was their motion of flight.
Bugs fly erratically moving to the left and right. Orbs move in a direct linear pattern during flight.
In addition, there was no fluttering motion of the texture of the orbs. If it were a bug, it would be very
easy to see spot the wings during its flight.
The orbs may have been authentic; however the presence of orbs does not necessarily mean that a place is
haunted. In our prior investigations we have documented several of these anomalies in film. But in order
for us to determine that the area is haunted, other things such as odors, equipment issues, and sudden
temperature changes must also be present in the investigated area. Orbs are the most commonly documented
paranormal phenomenon amongst “ghost hunters.” They can be found anywhere and there in lies the problem.
The fact that they can be found anywhere is a strong indicator that orbs are not a good, solid basis in
determining that the location is haunted.
